One of the things I absolutely love about Still Life Light Painting is the potential for transforming everyday objects into beautiful art!
Using the amazing power of light, along with some masking techniques that lean toward the "sculptural" aspects of a subject, can yield results that are beyond what we see under ordinary lighing conditions. Indeed, the results can often exceed even what we imagine.

There is nothing more rewarding to me (and to my students)!
Light painting common objects is one thing, but photographing objects that have personal meaning is something else altogether! By rendering the essence of these objects, we can preserve them and in many cases, even get across the spirit of them, or of the people that owned them. I've also found that by making an extraordinary image of such subjects, we can actualy let go of the phyisical object. Furthermore, we can share the essence of the object(s) with family and friends through prints and other methods.

By photographing everyday objects in Light Painting, we allowing our viewers to see them in a new, unique way. There is no "Photoshop trickery", it's just a matter of applying a very descriptive light that imparts depth and detail, and then using simple masking techniques in Photoshop to enhance the sculptural form. It's a very powerful combination!
Happy Light Painting... and always remember... Skim The Light.
