Light Painting the Still Life - Japanese Tea Box with Whisk

"Japanese Tea Box with Whisk" © Harold Ross
My friend Brooks Jensen, (of LensWork), has traveled to Japan numerous times and has, over the years, collected some wonderful keepsakes from his trips. I was thrilled when he gifted me this beautiful Japanese tea box and whisk, or chasen. The whisk is primarily used to thoroughly mix matcha green tea during a Japanese tea ceremony.
The tradition goes back to the 1500s and is still being practiced today. I recommend reading an article HERE, as it is such a beautiful ceremony with an amazing history!
Using my my still life light painting techniques allowed me to reveal every detail of this beautiful subject matter.
Happy Light Painting... and always remember... Skim The Light.
